Neil Young, Morrissey, ... and jazz?

 Photo © F. Maccioli / Droid

Bakersfield jazz fans had a real treat last night as jazz vocalists Jenn Neil and Ron McCowen put on an eclectic, to say the least, set of jazz interpretations. Backed by Glen Fong, Canaan McDuffie, and CSUB's Jim Scully and Kris Tiner, the group was the featured artist at the Bakersfield Jazz Workshop.

Eschewing the typical jazz blue book standards, the band sprinkled their set of rarely heard (at the BJW anyway) jazz vocals with jazzy interpretations of tunes by Neil Young and Morrisey of all people.
