Internet Dating

How many of you do it? How many of you lie? How many of you stretch the truth?

It's been 3 years since I lost my wife. My kid has blossomed into a typical teenager - everything I say or do is wrong and she hates me.

Some folks think I should go out and meet someone. I dunno. I kinda am at peace with myself, don't know if I want all the complications of a relationship. Especially at 56.

But,....

it would be nice to go to a movie, or dinner, with someone other than myself. Maybe have an intelligent conversation with someone. I dunno...

So, I put a profile up. Described myself honestly - maybe too honestly.

Heard back from one woman who said she was kidnapped as a teenager and grew up on the planet Mars. She said we were a good match cause we both liked jazz music. (She said that's all they did was listen to jazz on Mars. Honest - I actually heard from someone like this!)

I said I wasn't religious - heard back from women who go to church every week, sometimes more.

I said I was looking for a college grad or better. Heard back from lots who never went to college, or, at best, used the term "some college" in their profile. Now, what does that mean, "some college?"

Said I was looking for someone who played tennis - heard from folks whose only efforts at exercise seem to be walking across the room to get the TV remote. Hmmm....

I dunno...maybe I should make up stuff?

Is anyone out there?

OK, I'm going to try to post a LOT more often. I just want to see if I can say anything that gets any traffic. (By the way, if you happen to come across this site, even by accident, drop a comment if u don't mind. If for no ther reason that I know it's showing up in someone else's search results.

My Dog is OK!!!!!

Just got back from the Vet yesterday, more bloodwork - ALL NORMAL!!!!!!!!!
Of course, I sort of knew that when she ate the gate to my backyard fence - pulled out the screws with her teeth even! But the labwork confirmed it!
She'll still be on steroids though for most of the rest of her life. Looks like it was auto immune anemia and not dogfood poisoning - although I still have my doubts. I tossed all the suspect dog food and will stick to Pedigree from now on - dry and wet food.
Lots of great help and care and concern from my veterinarian and the hospital staff. As well as a very old friend of mine who helped with the diagnosis and calmed my nerves. Haven't seen her in over 20 years - you know who you are. Thanks again - I'm very grateful.

Retirement Milestone - April 2007

Well, I retired on April 6, 2006. I just celebrated my 1 yr anniversary. So, how has it been so far?

I thought it waas going to be scarier than it has been. Financially, it's been much more positive than I expected. (My investments in this 1 year have made almost double what I was making in salary, and without me lifting a finger - just sitting on my ass!)

Headhunters have called me - but, I still can't seem to get enthused about showing up for work everyday. One even said I could set my own hours, work only on projects I wanted to work on, AND work from home if I wanted to - but, although tempting, for right now, it just didn't interest me.

Some folks have asked - "Well, I bet you miss the people you worked with?" There are a few of those, but, let me say this about a LOT of other key people there: My life is a helluva lot more pleasant and comfortable these days without a knife sticking out of my back every day!

Enuf said about that. As I said before, quitting was the best decision I ever made. I recommend retirement for everyone - jump at it when you have the opportunity.

I Need to Blog More Often

OK - I'm lazy. I retired a year ago - gee, people say you have to keep busy when you do that or you'll go nuts. I haven't and I haven't - go figure.

Anyway, maybe I'll waste some more time in here.

Any ideas what I should talk about?
